Involved in Outreach 360 – Took a trip with her 11th grade Spanish class to the Dominican Republic to help bring toys, clothes and books to impoverished children. She also taught nearby children English, Spanish and information on public health. She would also play with the children outside of her scheduled hours at the camp.
Member of Webster Thomas High School’s Rotary Club – Has volunteered over 30 hours of service. Has been involved in bell ringing for Salvation Army and organizing canned foods at Foodlink. She has been inducted with distinction for over-exceeding volunteer hour expectations.
Member of National Honor Society – Due to her tremendous leadership skills, volunteer service and academic achievements Laura was inducted to this society. Responsibilities include a monthly meeting and volunteerism on at least two separate occasions. Laura has exceeded this amount and has volunteered at a total of 6 times.
Link Leader for Link Crew – created by the boomerang project link crew is a program offered at Laura’s high school to help incoming freshmen have a smooth transition into high school. She is mentoring 6 students this year. Besides helping to organize and attending freshman orientation, she held team bonding activities with her “crew” to help in the process of establishing new relationships in high school.
Extracurricular Activities and High Honor Roll Student – Volleyball, yearbook club secretary, Homecoming Mural Committee, Titan Scholar Award in Art and English and has kept a 3.7 GPA.
