Sandra Quiñones is the recipient of the Young Person On the Move award from the National Multiple Sclerosis Society Upstate New York Chapter.
After attending the Latino Leadership Development Program (LLDP) from United Way last year, Sandra chose to become involved with the National MS Society. She took inspiration as her High School sweetheart was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in his early twenties.
Sandra helps prepare for and attends fundraisers. She also volunteers as an office assistant for the National MS Society. Her latest endeavor is reaching out to Latino families and taking part in bilingual self-help groups for Spanish-speaking people living with MS in Rochester. This coming summer, Quiñones will be relocating to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she hopes to continue her work with the National MS Society.
Sandra will be honored at the Chapter’s 3rd annual On the Move Luncheon at noon on Friday, March 15 during MS Awareness week, at Locust Hill Country Club in Pittsford.
Congratulations Sandra!
On the Move is a nationwide educational and fundraising event that helps increase public awareness of MS and the National MS Society, while acknowledging and encouraging the advancement of philanthropists, community leaders and volunteers. The goal of the On the Move Luncheon is simple – to raise funds and empower each other to create a better future for those living with MS.
