Dr. Marielena Vélez de Brown was born in Philadelphia, PA.

She obtained her bachelor’s degree in Biology from Swarthmore College prior to working in a laboratory at the University of Pennsylvania. She pursued her medical degree at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, OH. After completing a Family Medicine internship in Wilmington, DE, she entered the University of Rochester Preventive Medicine and Public Health Residency program. She graduated her residency with the Master’s of Public Health in June 2016. She now serves as the Deputy Commissioner of the Monroe County Department of Public Health.

Dr. Vélez de Brown enjoys reading, camping, biking, dancing and many kinds of music. She now lives with her husband in Greece, NY.
