Raquel Singletary

Latinas Unidas Chair

Raquel Singletary is a dedicated advocate, leader, and changemaker in the Greater Rochester community, bringing over 30 years of experience in serving and empowering diverse populations. Her expertise spans aging services, community advocacy, and leadership development.

As Program Manager Bilingual for the Alzheimer’s Association of Rochester & the Finger Lakes, Raquel provides education, resources, and support to families impacted by Alzheimer’s and dementia, with a special focus on underserved communities.

Raquel is also committed to advancing research and advocacy, serving as a member of the University of Rochester’s Community Advisory Board for Alzheimer’s Research. The board studies the impact of Alzheimer’s on Latino individuals and their caregivers.

A champion for Latino older adults, Raquel previously led the only Hispanic-based senior center in the region, where she successfully doubled its size and expanded essential services. Her impactful leadership earned her the President's Award from the organization. She continues to be a trusted resource for aging Latinos and their caregivers, also serving as an educator for Lifespan’s Elder Abuse Prevention Certificate Course.

Raquel is an active member of Monroe County's Council for Elders, where she advocates for policies and initiatives that support older adults in the region.

Beyond aging services, Raquel is a strong advocate for Latina women’s leadership. As President of Latinas Unidas, Inc., she leads initiatives that empower and celebrate Latina girls and women, creating growth, connection, and advocacy opportunities.

Raquel is also an ordained reverend through the Global Hands Fellowship Foundation and holds an associate degree in Chaplaincy, integrating spiritual guidance into her service work.

Raquel’s contributions have been recognized by the City Council of Rochester and honored by the Latino Rotary Club with the Community Connector Volunteer Award for her commitment to fostering meaningful relationships and unity across the community.

Her passion for equity, inclusion, and community-building continues to leave a lasting impact in Rochester. From empowering seniors and women to advancing research and offering spiritual guidance, Raquel remains steadfast in advocating for those in need.
