A gem of the Latinas Unidas, Inc., the ¡Soy Unica! ¡Soy Latina! (SUSL) Rally is a one-day event for girls and young ladies ages 7-17. Its purpose is to encourage the girls to be proud of their ethnic identity and cultural heritage. The Latinas Unidas Board, Rally Committee members, and Volunteers are present and active to serve as role models to the girls and young ladies.
The Rally begins with a high-energy kick-off where the participants lift their voices to declare their self-worth and uniqueness. Through workshops, Rally participants engage in hands-on activities that focus on their creativity and future careers. The grand finale, the Quinceañera fashion runway, provides a platform for previous Quinceañeras to showcase their Rite of Passage stories and their academic and career goals.
As Latinas, we know that family engagement is important. Parents, there are workshops designed just for you. Parents and their young Latinas will also participate in a college tour and attend the community fair. Participants 13 or younger need to be accompanied by their parent, guardian or an authorized adult.
The 2023 Rally will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Roberts Wesleyan University. Go to the registration link to register for the event.

SUSL Rally History
The ¡Soy Unica! ¡Soy Latina! is a public education initiative.
The Catholic Family Center(CFC) introduced the ¡Soy Unica! ¡Soy Latina! initiative to Rochester, NY in 2002. CFC had the lead of the rally in 2002 and 2004. There was no rally in 2003 because the schedule changed from the Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept./Oct.) to the Women Month (March).
In 2004, CFC approached Latinas Unidas to take the leadership of the ¡Soy Unica! ¡Soy Latina! Rally. In January 2005, Latinas Unidas accepted to take the lead, and the CFC continued to participate as the liaison between the committee and the creators (the federal government) of this initiative.
Because of the success of past rallies in Rochester, NY, and requests to widen the program to more girls, today the rally in our city includes workshops and activities for girls from ages 7 to 18.
The SAMHSA initiative for the ¡Soy Unica! ¡Soy Latina! campaign ended in 2007 and are no longer sponsoring these events.
